Modern Practice is my most recently completed research series. This project was a deep dive into people's personal faith practices outside of traditional church buildings. Rooted in subject interviews, I used a combination of the subject's personal stories paired with physical representations of their spiritual practices in an effort to bring light to nontraditional spiritual practices. Upon completion, the project included 5 large scale oil paintings, 3 enamel pieces reflecting the objects of the subjects, and finally a handmade book. The book includes hand crafted front and back covers comprised of enamel and copper as well as pages which include the research process and subject interviews.
